Fried Shrimp Po' Boy Ingredients

Method

Fried Shrimp Po' Boy Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to enhance tenderness.

  2. 2

    Mix the Coating

In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F / 175°C).

  4. 4

    Coat the Shrimp

Remove the shrimp from buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.

  5. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully place the coated shrimp in the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Po' Boy

Slice the French bread or rolls lengthwise. Spread a generous amount of lemon aioli inside, then layer with mixed greens, fried shrimp, cucumber, tomato, onion, and drizzle with hot sauce.

  7. 7

    Serve

Close the sandwich and serve immediately with extra hot sauce on the side.
