Preparing the Coffee Mixture
Brew the Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee using your preferred method. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
Add Liqueur (Optional)
Once cooled, stir in the coffee liqueur if using. Set aside.
Making the Filling
Prepare the Egg Mixture
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and creamy.
Incorporate Mascarpone
Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese into the egg mixture until smooth and well combined.
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
Combine Cream with Mascarpone Mixture
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well incorporated. Be gentle to retain the airiness.
Assembling the Tiramisu
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
Layer the Ingredients
Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x9 inch dish. Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the ladyfingers.
Repeat Layers
Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone filling.
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Serving the Tiramisu
Dust with Cocoa
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder using a fine sieve.
Slice and Serve
Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your delicious tiramisu!
