Cake Directions

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

3

Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well blended.

4

Incorporate Boiling Water

Stir in the boiling water carefully (the batter will be thin). Mix until smooth.

5

Pour and Bake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6

Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer the cakes to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Directions

7

Prepare the Frosting

In a medium mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter on high speed until creamy.

8

Combine Dry Ingredients

Add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar to the butter, and mix on low speed until combined.

9

Add Milk and Vanilla

Pour in the whole milk and vanilla extract. Beat on high speed for about 2 minutes until fluffy and spreadable.

10

Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
