Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Asparagus

Rinse the asparagus under cold water to remove any dirt or debris. Trim the woody ends of the asparagus by snapping them off or cutting them with a knife. You want to remove about 1-2 inches from the bottom.

  2. 2

    Season the Asparagus

In a large mixing bowl, add the trimmed asparagus. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle salt and black pepper over the top. Toss gently to coat all the asparagus spears evenly with the oil and seasoning.

Grilling

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, approximately 400°F (200°C). If using a grill pan, heat it on the stovetop over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Grill the Asparagus

Place the seasoned asparagus directly on the grill grates or in the grill pan. Grill for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until the asparagus is tender and has grill marks. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the asparagus.

Serving

  1. 5

    Finish with Lemon

Once grilled, transfer the asparagus to a serving platter. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the grilled asparagus for brightness. Optionally, garnish with lemon wedges.

  2. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately as a side dish or as part of a main course. Enjoy your grilled asparagus!
