Method

Preparing the Beef Patty

1

Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.

2

Form Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Patty

3

Heat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

4

Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired doneness.

Assembling the Cheeseburger

5

Prepare Toppings

While the patties are cooking, wash the lettuce leaves, slice the tomato, and thinly slice the red onion.

6

Toast the Buns

If desired, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

7

Build the Burger

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by the lettuce, tomato slices, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
