Potato Preparation
Optional Seasonings
Method
Preparation
- 1
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut potato strips in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.
Cooking
- 3
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature is essential for achieving crispy fries.
- 4
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 5
Season the Potatoes
In a large bowl, toss the dried potato strips with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and any optional seasonings like garlic powder or paprika until evenly coated.
- 6
Arrange on Baking Sheet
Spread the seasoned potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Ensure they are not overlapping to allow for even cooking.
- 7
Bake the Fries
Bake the fries in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Bake until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 8
Add Cheese (Optional)
If using Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it over the fries during the last 5 minutes of baking for a cheesy finish.
- 9
Serve
Once cooked, remove the fries from the oven, let them cool slightly, then serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
