Method
Wonton Filling Preparation
- 1
Prepare Filling
In a large bowl, combine the shredded cooked chicken, buffalo sauce, softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
Wonton Assembly
- 2
Assemble the Wontons
Lay out a wonton wrapper on a clean, dry surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the buffalo chicken filling in the center of the wrapper. Brush the edges of the wrapper with the beaten egg to help seal it.
- 3
Fold and Seal
Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges together to seal. Ensure there are no air pockets. Optionally, you can fold the two outer corners back to the center for a more decorative look.
Frying
- 4
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).
- 5
Fry the Wontons
Carefully drop a few wontons into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 6
Drain Wontons
Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove the wontons from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serving
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Serve the buffalo chicken wontons hot with a side of blue cheese dressing for dipping and celery sticks for crunch.
