Method

Preparation of Onion Rings

  1. 1

    Slice the Onion

Peel the large onion and slice it into 1/2 inch thick rings.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add water to create a smooth batter.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Batter the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  5. 5

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Preparation of Honey BBQ Sauce

  1. 6

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine honey and BBQ sauce. Stir until well mixed.

Assemble the Beehive

  1. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

Take a plate and place a layer of cheddar cheese slices. Stack fried onion rings on top of the cheese.

  2. 8

    Drizzle the Sauce

Drizzle the honey BBQ sauce generously over the stacked onion rings. You can add more cheese on top if desired.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately while warm, allowing guests to pull apart the layers of cheese and onion rings.
