BBQ Glaze
Method
Preparation of Ribs
- 1
Prepare the Ribs
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- 2
Season the Ribs
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Rub this spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring an even coating.
BBQ Glaze Preparation
- 3
Make the BBQ Glaze
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir well until the mixture comes to a simmer, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cooking the Ribs
- 4
Bake the Ribs
Place the seasoned ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs tightly with another piece of foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the ribs are tender.
- 5
Glaze the Ribs
Remove the ribs from the oven and discard the top layer of foil. Brush a generous amount of BBQ glaze over the ribs. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and return the ribs to the oven, uncovered. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, basting with more glaze halfway through.
Serving
- 6
Slice and Serve
Once the ribs are caramelized and sticky, remove them from the oven. Let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing between the bones. Serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side.
