Beer Battered Fish
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer and mix until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Batter the Fish
Dip each fish fillet into the batter, ensuring it is well coated.
- 4
Fry the Fish
Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Prepare the Fries
In the same oil, fry pre-cut fries according to package instructions or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
- 6
Serve
Serve the beer-battered fish with fries, homemade or store-bought coleslaw, and a side of tartar sauce.
