Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Cut the pork shoulder into large chunks and season with salt, pepper, cumin, and oregano.

  2. 2

    Add Ingredients to Slow Cooker

Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker. Add orange juice, lime juice, minced garlic, bay leaves, and water.

  3. 3

    Cook the Pork

Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours until the pork is tender and can be shredded easily.

  4. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Discard bay leaves.

  5. 5

    Crisp the Carnitas

Spread the shredded pork on a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 5-7 minutes until crispy. Stir and broil again if desired.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the crispy carnitas with black beans on the side.
