Method
Bread Directions
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, water, sourdough starter, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- 3
First Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- 4
Shape the Dough
Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Shape it into a round loaf.
- 5
Second Rise
Place the shaped dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover it again, and let it rise for another hour.
- 6
Preheat the Oven
While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 7
Bake the Bread
Once the dough has risen, place it in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- 8
Cool the Bread
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Butter Directions
- 9
Soften the Butter
Take the unsalted butter out of the fridge and allow it to soften at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- 10
Season the Butter
Once softened, add sea salt to the butter to taste and mix until well combined.
