Method

Grits Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Slowly whisk in the grits and reduce the heat to low. Cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the grits are thick and creamy.

  2. 2

    Add Cheese and Jalapeño

Once the grits are cooked, remove from heat and stir in the butter, cheddar cheese, diced fresh jalapeño, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the cheese is melted and the mixture is smooth.

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 3

    Season Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Toss the shrimp in the spice mixture until well coated.

  2. 4

    Cook Shrimp

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are opaque and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  3. 5

    Cook Tasso Ham

In the same skillet, add the diced tasso ham and sauté for 2-3 minutes until crispy. Combine with the cooked shrimp and remove from heat.
