Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) to ensure it’s hot enough for cooking the pizza.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Sausage

Remove the casing from the Italian fennel sausage and crumble it into a skillet over medium heat. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  3. 3

    Slice the Vegetables

While the sausage is cooking, slice the red onion thinly. Set aside. Chop the fresh basil roughly.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Cheese

Grate the mozzarella and parmesan cheese if not pre-grated.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Dough

Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet.

  2. 6

    Add the Sauce (Optional)

If using pizza sauce, spread a thin layer over the dough. Otherwise, proceed to the next step.

  3. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

Evenly distribute the crumbled sausage over the pizza dough. Then, add the pepperoni slices, followed by the sliced red onion.

  4. 8

    Add Cheese and Season

Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese generously over the top, followed by the parmesan cheese. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Cooking

  1. 9

    Bake the Pizza

Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  2. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chopped fresh basil over the top. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
