Pasta

Toppings (optional)

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta and set aside.

Making the Cheese Sauce

  1. 2

    Prepare the Roux

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the all-purpose flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes until it forms a paste. Be careful not to let it brown.

  2. 3

    Add the Milk

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Add the Cheeses and Seasonings

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and combined. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste.

Combining and Serving

  1. 5

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained penne pasta to the cheese sauce and stir until the pasta is well coated.

  2. 6

    Optional Toppings

If desired, mix bread crumbs and paprika in a small bowl. Sprinkle over the mac-n-cheese for added texture before serving.

  3. 7

    Serve

Scoop the mac-n-cheese into bowls or plates and serve hot. Enjoy your creamy, cheesy delight!
