Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Chicken

While the pasta is cooking, season the chicken breast with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the center. Remove from the skillet and let it rest before slicing it into bite-sized pieces.

Cooking the Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped red onion, red bell pepper, and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic and Spices

Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 5

    Make the Cream Sauce

Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 6

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked penne pasta and sliced chicken to the skillet with the cream sauce. Toss everything together until the pasta is well-coated with the sauce.

  2. 7

    Add Fresh Ingredients

Stir in the chopped tomatoes and fresh basil just before serving. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
