Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (110°F) with active dry yeast and a tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the melted butter, eggs, and the activated yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare Filling

In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, ground cinnamon, chopped nuts, and raisins or currants.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 7

    Roll Out the Dough

After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 8

    Add Filling

Sprinkle the prepared filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  3. 9

    Roll and Cut

Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into slices about 1-2 inches thick.

  4. 10

    Second Rise

Place the slices on a greased baking sheet or in a baking dish, cover with a cloth, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

  5. 11

    Preheat Oven

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  6. 12

    Bake the Rolls

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Topping Preparation

  1. 13

    Make the Glaze

In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  2. 14

    Glaze the Rolls

Once the rolls have cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top.
