Bourbon Glaze Ingredients

Method

Making the Bourbon Glaze

  1. 1

    Combine the Base Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the bourbon, brown sugar, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir well to mix all the ingredients together.

  2. 2

    Add Spices

Sprinkle in the garlic powder and black pepper. Stir the mixture again until the spices are fully incorporated.

  3. 3

    Simmer the Mixture

Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer while stirring occasionally. Allow it to simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until the sugar has completely dissolved.

  4. 4

    Thicken the Glaze

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water together to create a slurry. Once the glaze has simmered and the sugar is dissolved, slowly whisk in the cornstarch slurry into the glaze.

  5. 5

    Finish Cooking

Continue to cook the glaze for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until it thickens to your desired consistency. Remove from heat.

  6. 6

    Cool and Store

Allow the glaze to cool slightly before using it as a marinade or sauce. Store any leftover glaze in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
