Steak or Salmon

Garlic Whipped Potatoes

Method

Prepare the Steak or Salmon

  1. 1

    Season the Meat

Rub the Black Angus flat iron steak or salmon fillet with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh lemon juice. Ensure the meat is evenly coated with the seasoning.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C).

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak or Salmon

Place the seasoned steak or salmon on the grill. Cook the flat iron steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Grill the salmon for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until it flakes easily with a fork.

  4. 4

    Rest the Meat

Once cooked, remove the meat from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Prepare the Garlic Whipped Potatoes

  1. 5

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Garlic

While the potatoes are boiling, peel and chop the garlic cloves. In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over low heat and sauté the garlic until fragrant but not browned, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 7

    Mash the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and return them to the pot. Add the sautéed garlic, remaining butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  4. 8

    Garnish and Serve

If desired, sprinkle chopped chives on top of the garlic whipped potatoes for garnish. Serve alongside the grilled steak or salmon.
