Method

Chips Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them thinly using a mandoline or sharp knife to achieve even thickness.

  2. 2

    Heat Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry Potatoes

Carefully add the potato slices to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.

Gouda Cheese Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Melt Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Make Roux

Add the flour to the melted butter and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to form a roux, ensuring it doesn't brown.

  3. 7

    Add Milk

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to cook until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 8

    Incorporate Cheese and Spices

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the shredded Gouda cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Combine Chips and Sauce

Place the fried potato chips on a serving platter. Generously drizzle the Gouda cheese sauce over the chips.

  2. 10

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle the bacon bits and chopped parsley over the top of the cheese-covered chips.

  3. 11

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot for the best flavor and texture.
