House Kettle Chips

Method

Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the Angus ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill or char-broiler to medium-high heat.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  5. 5

    Add the Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

  6. 6

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Toppings

  1. 7

    Prepare the Toppings

Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into thick rounds.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Burger

Once the patties are cooked, place one patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Cover with the top half of the bun.

House Kettle Chips

  1. 9

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and scrub the russet potatoes. Slice them thinly using a mandoline or a sharp knife.

  2. 10

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or a fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 11

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the potato slices to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.

  4. 12

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips from the oil and drain on paper towels. Season with salt while still hot.
