Method

Dumpling Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Pork Filling Preparation

  1. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, chopped green onions, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Dumpling Assembly

  1. 3

    Form the Dumplings

After the dough has rested, divide it into small pieces (about 1 inch in size). Roll each piece into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of pork filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal tightly.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Steam the Dumplings

Prepare a steamer or a pot with a steaming basket lined with parchment paper. Place the dumplings in the steamer, ensuring they are not touching each other. Steam for 15-20 minutes over boiling water until the pork is cooked through.

Prepare Maple Sweet Chili Sauce

  1. 5

    Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together maple syrup, sweet chili sauce, and rice vinegar until well combined. Set aside for serving.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate and Garnish

Once the dumplings are steamed and cooked, plate them and sprinkle sliced scallions on top. Serve with the maple sweet chili sauce on the side.
