Crispy Cheese Curds

House-Made Marinara Sauce

Method

Crispy Cheese Curds

  1. 1

    Prepare the cheese curds

Set the cheddar cheese curds aside on a plate, ensuring they are not touching each other.

  2. 2

    Set up the breading station

In three separate bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs. Season the flour with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the cheese curds

Coat each cheese curd first in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat in breadcrumbs. Ensure they are fully covered.

  4. 4

    Heat the oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  5. 5

    Fry the cheese curds

Carefully add a few breaded cheese curds to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pot.

  6. 6

    Drain and serve

Remove the fried cheese curds using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara sauce.

House-Made Marinara Sauce

  1. 7

    Heat the olive oil

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 8

    Sauté the garlic

Add the minced garlic to the saucepan and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.

  3. 9

    Add the crushed tomatoes

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar.

  4. 10

    Simmer the sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 11

    Adjust seasoning and serve

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm alongside the crispy cheese curds.
