Cake Preparation

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Add Boiling Water
Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined. The batter will be thin.

Bake the Cake
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cake
Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Frosting
In a medium bowl, sift together the cocoa powder and powdered sugar.

Mix Butter and Cocoa
In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the cocoa and sugar mixture, alternating with the milk and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and fluffy.
Assemble and Serve

Frost the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

Cut the cake into slices and serve each slice with a scoop of ice cream.
