Cooking the Broth

Add Tomatoes and Wine
Pour in crushed tomatoes and dry white wine. Stir well to combine.

Simmer the Broth
Add fish stock or clam juice, bay leaves, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 15 minutes to blend the flavors.

Add Dungeness crab, mussels, calamari, and prawns to the pot. Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes, until the mussels open and the prawns turn pink.
Preparing the Bread

Prepare Garlic Bread
While the cioppino is cooking, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Mix softened butter with garlic powder and spread on sourdough slices. Place on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 10 minutes until golden.
