Clam Chowder Ingredients

Method

Clam Chowder Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a large pot, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the rendered fat in the pot.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add butter to the bacon fat and melt. Stir in the chopped onion and celery, cooking until soft, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Potatoes and Flour

Stir in the diced potatoes and flour, mixing well to coat the vegetables.

  4. 4

    Combine Broth and Clams

Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add the chopped clams, salt, black pepper, and thyme. Reduce heat and let simmer for about 15 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.

  5. 5

    Add Cream

Stir in the heavy cream and simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning as needed.

  6. 6

    Serve

Ladle the chowder into bowls, garnish with crispy bacon and chopped parsley, and serve hot.
