Method

Preparing the Filet Mignon

  1. 1

    Season and Sear

Season the filet mignon with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the filet for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.

Making the Salad

  1. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a bowl, combine mixed greens, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumber, and drizzle with balsamic vinaigrette. Toss gently.

Preparing Miso Soup

  1. 3

    Make the Soup

In a pot, heat dashi broth. Stir in miso paste until dissolved. Add diced tofu and sliced green onions. Heat gently but do not boil.

Cooking White Rice

  1. 4

    Cook the Rice

Rinse the white rice under cold water until water runs clear. In a pot, combine rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for 18 minutes.

Making California Roll

  1. 5

    Assemble the Roll

Prepare sushi rice according to package instructions. Place a nori sheet on a bamboo mat, spread sushi rice on top, add cucumber, avocado, and crab meat. Roll tightly and slice.

Frying Shrimp Tempura

  1. 6

    Prepare and Fry

Mix tempura batter with water until smooth. Dip shrimp in the batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.

Preparing Sashimi

  1. 7

    Slice the Fish

Using a sharp knife, slice the fresh fish into thin pieces for sashimi.

Making Shumai or Gyoza

  1. 8

    Fill and Cook

Place a spoonful of ground pork mixed with chopped green onions in the center of a wrapper. Fold and seal. Steam or pan-fry until cooked through.
