Method
Classic Rolls Directions
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, milk, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 5
Shape Rolls
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 3 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a roll and place them on a greased baking sheet.
- 6
Second Rise
Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- 7
Bake
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Remove the rolls from the oven, let them cool slightly, and serve warm with salad and soup.
