Beer Ingredients

Method

Brewing Process

  1. 1

    Mash the Grains

Heat 10 cups of water to approximately 160°F (71°C). Add the Pilsner malt and maintain the temperature for 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sparge

After mashing, sparge the grains with hot water to collect the wort. Aim for about 5-6 gallons of wort.

  3. 3

    Boil

Bring the wort to a boil and add Saaz hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding more hops if desired for bitterness or flavor.

  4. 4

    Cool the Wort

After boiling, cool the wort quickly to about 70°F (21°C) using a wort chiller.

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and pitch the yeast. Seal with an airlock and ferment at around 50°F (10°C) for 2-3 weeks.

  6. 6

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, siphon the beer into bottles, leaving some headspace. Cap the bottles and let them carbonate for 1-2 weeks.
