Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Mashing the Grains

In a large brew kettle, heat 5 liters of water to 160°F (71°C). Add the pale malt and crystal malt, and maintain the temperature for 60 minutes while stirring occasionally.

  2. 2

    Boiling the Wort

After mashing, remove the grains and bring the liquid (wort) to a boil. Once boiling, add the Chinook hops and boil for 60 minutes.

  3. 3

    Adding Flavor Hops

With 15 minutes left in the boil, add the Citra hops to enhance the aroma and flavor.

  4. 4

    Cooling the Wort

After the boil, cool the wort quickly using an immersion chiller or an ice bath until it reaches about 68°F (20°C).

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Pitch the yeast and seal the vessel with an airlock. Allow it to ferment for 1-2 weeks at room temperature.

  6. 6

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve the priming sugar in a small amount of boiling water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer and cap securely.

  7. 7

    Carbonation

Let the bottles sit at room temperature for an additional 1-2 weeks to carbonate before chilling and enjoying your MoonJuice IPA!
