Brewing Instructions
- 1
Mashing
Heat 5 liters of water to about 160°F (71°C). Add the pale malt and caramel malt to the water. Hold the temperature for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 2
Sparging
After mashing, drain the wort and sparge with enough hot water to collect around 6 liters of wort.
- 3
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil. Add the bittering hops and boil for 60 minutes. After 50 minutes, add the aroma hops.
- 4
Cooling
Cool the wort rapidly to about 70°F (21°C) using an immersion chiller or ice bath.
- 5
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter. Pitch the yeast and seal with an airlock. Allow to ferment for 1-2 weeks at around 68°F (20°C).
- 6
Bottling
Once fermentation is complete, dissolve priming sugar in a small amount of water and add to the beer. Bottle the beer and cap them. Let them condition for another 1-2 weeks.
