Marinara Sauce Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Garlic

Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves.

  2. 2

    Heat the Olive Oil

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Garlic

Add the chopped garlic to the saucepan and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  4. 4

    Add Tomatoes

Pour in the canned whole tomatoes (with juices) and break them up with a spoon or spatula.

  5. 5

    Season the Sauce

Add the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

  6. 6

    Simmer

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook uncovered for about 20-30 minutes to thicken, stirring occasionally.

  7. 7

    Finish the Sauce

Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If using, stir in fresh basil just before serving.
