Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Sauce
In a bowl, crush the DOP San Marzano tomatoes using your hands or a fork. Add salt to taste and mix well to create a simple tomato sauce.
- 2
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 250°C or 482°F). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.
- 3
Shape the Dough
On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough into a circle about 10-12 inches in diameter, making sure the edges are slightly thicker for the crust.
- 4
Assemble the Pizza
Spread a layer of the crushed San Marzano tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Tear the DOP Buffalo Mozzarella into pieces and distribute evenly over the sauce. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.
- 5
Bake the Pizza
Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Once out of the oven, immediately scatter fresh basil leaves over the pizza. Slice and serve hot.
