Calzone Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) to ensure it's hot enough to create a crispy calzone crust.
- 2
Prepare the Dough
Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to approximately 7 inches in diameter.
- 3
Mix the Filling
In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and pepperoni slices. Mix until well combined.
- 4
Fill the Dough
Place a generous amount of the filling mixture on one half of the rolled-out dough, leaving a border around the edge.
- 5
Fold and Seal
Fold the other half of the dough over the filling. Press the edges together to seal. You can crimp the edges with a fork for extra security.
- 6
Egg Wash
Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the top of the calzone with the egg wash. This will give it a golden color when baked.
- 7
Bake
Place the calzone on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Allow the calzone to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm, optionally with marinara sauce for dipping.
