Crab Rangoon Filling
Method
Crab Rangoon Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- 2
Assemble the Rangoon
Place a teaspoon of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper over to create a triangle, and press to seal. Optionally, you can twist the edges to create a more decorative shape.
- 3
Fry the Rangoon
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully drop the filled wontons in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Make the Caramelized Onion Sweet and Sour Sauce
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add 1 medium sliced onion and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of ketchup. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- 5
Serve
Serve the hot crab rangoon with the caramelized onion sweet and sour sauce for dipping.
