Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a plate or tray.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Spaghetti

  1. 4

    Cook the Spaghetti

In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare the Sauce Base

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Heat over medium heat and add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Season

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the skillet. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 10 minutes.

  3. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Return the browned meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the sauce for an additional 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Serve the Dish

On a plate, serve a portion of spaghetti topped with the meatballs and sauce. Garnish with additional parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
