Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Cavatelli
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cavatelli pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the cavatelli pasta and set aside. Do not rinse, as the starch helps the sauce adhere.
Sauce Preparation
- 3
Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- 4
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, and add the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
- 5
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Combining and Serving
- 6
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained cavatelli pasta to the sauce in the skillet. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- 7
Serve
Serve the pasta hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese to taste.
