Homemade Garlic Croutons
Method
Salad Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Salad Base
In a large bowl, chop the Romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
- 2
Cook the Bacon
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove from heat, drain on paper towels, and crumble into small pieces.
- 3
Add Meats and Vegetables
To the bowl with Romaine, add the crumbled bacon, sliced capicola, sliced salami, chilled pasta, diced tomatoes, sliced red onion, shredded mozzarella blend, and chopped fresh basil.
- 4
Dress the Salad
Drizzle the Ranch dressing over the salad mixture and toss everything together until well combined.
Crouton Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Croutons
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
- 6
Bake the Croutons
Spread the coated bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown, stirring halfway through to ensure even crisping.
- 7
Cool the Croutons
Remove the croutons from the oven and let them cool slightly before adding to the salad.
