Calamari and Dipping Sauce
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
- 2
Coat the Calamari
Dip the calamari rings into the egg mixture, then coat them with the flour mixture. Shake off any excess flour.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pan or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- 4
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot with marinara sauce for dipping and lemon wedges on the side.
