Turkey and Dressing

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Turkey

Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Place the Butterball turkey in a roasting pan and season with salt and black pepper. Roast the turkey for 3-4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste occasionally with pan juices.

  2. 2

    Make the Dressing

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced celery and onion, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the sage dressing mix, sautéed vegetables, and chicken broth. Mix well and fold in the dried cranberries. Transfer to a greased baking dish.

  3. 3

    Bake the Dressing

Place the dressing in the oven during the last 30-40 minutes of turkey roasting. Bake until golden brown and heated through.

  4. 4

    Serve

Once the turkey is done, let it rest for 20 minutes before carving. Serve slices of turkey over the sage dressing with hearty turkey gravy and cranberry sauce on the side.
