Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Rinse the Rice

Place the cup of white rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold running water. This helps to remove excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming gummy.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, 2 cups of water, and 0.5 tsp of salt. If desired, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter for extra flavor.

  3. 3

    Bring to a Boil

Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir gently to ensure the rice is evenly distributed.

  4. 4

    Simmer

Once the water reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Avoid lifting the lid during this time.

  5. 5

    Fluff and Serve

After 15-20 minutes, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for another 5 minutes. Then, remove the lid and use a fork to fluff the rice gently before serving.
