Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Rinse the Rice

Place the white rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water for about 1-2 minutes, or until the water runs clear. This helps to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, add the rinsed rice, water, salt, and butter or oil. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.

  3. 3

    Bring to a Boil

Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low.

  4. 4

    Simmer

Cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid and let it simmer on low heat for about 18-20 minutes. Do not lift the lid during this time, as this can let steam escape.

  5. 5

    Fluff the Rice

After the cooking time is up, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Then, use a fork to fluff the rice gently.

  6. 6

    Serve

Transfer the fluffy white rice to a serving dish and serve warm as a side dish or as a base for your favorite meals.
