Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Once heated, bake the meatballs for 25-30 minutes, or until they are browned and cooked through.

Tomato Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Onion and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine and Serve

  1. 6

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the tomato sauce. Let them simmer together for an additional 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  2. 7

    Serve

Serve the meatballs hot, topped with coarse grated cheese. Enjoy with pasta or crusty bread if desired.
