Tomato Sauce

Method

Bread Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, garlic powder, and oregano. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Add the foamy yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  6. 6

    Shape the Bread Sticks

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long stick.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the bread sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 8

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 9

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix well.

  3. 10

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 11

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
