Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a large pot, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Season the beef with salt, pepper, chili powder, and cumin. Sear the beef on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Aromatics

Remove the beef from the pot and set aside. In the same pot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

    Braise the Beef

Return the beef to the pot. Pour in the beef broth, cover, and simmer on low heat for 3 hours or until the beef is tender and easily shred with a fork.

  4. 4

    Make Tomato-Basil Relish

While the beef is cooking, prepare the tomato-basil relish by mixing diced tomatoes, chopped fresh basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Set aside.

  5. 5

    Prepare Tortillas

Warm the corn tortillas on a hot skillet for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.

  6. 6

    Assemble Tacos

Shred the beef and fill each tortilla with the beef, a dollop of crème fraîche, a spoonful of tomato-basil relish, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.
