Mussels and Garnish

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any debris. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Grapefruit and Jalapeño

Segment the grapefruit, removing the skin and pith. Finely chop the jalapeño, removing seeds if you prefer less heat.

  3. 3

    Cook the Garlic

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  4. 4

    Add Wine and Mussels

Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the cleaned mussels, cover the pot, and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened.

  5. 5

    Add Grapefruit and Jalapeño

Once the mussels are cooked, add the grapefruit segments and chopped jalapeño to the pot. Stir gently to combine.

  6. 6

    Season and Serve

Remove from heat, squeeze lime juice over the mussels, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
