Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, mix lime juice, orange juice, minced garlic, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the flank steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and pat dry. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side until a nice crust forms.

  3. 3

    Shred the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then, shred the steak using two forks.

  4. 4

    Sauté Onions

In the same skillet, add sliced red onions and sauté until they are soft and slightly caramelized. Add the shredded beef back into the skillet and mix well.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the Vaca Frita hot, garnished with lime wedges and your choice of sides.
