Cake Preparation

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter until creamy, then gradually add the sugar mixture and beat until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Bake Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool Cake
Once baked, let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare Strawberries
While the cake is cooling, slice the fresh strawberries and set aside.

Toast Almonds
In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the almond slivers until golden brown, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let cool.

Drizzle Balsamic
Once the cake has cooled, drizzle the aged balsamic vinegar over the top of the cake.

Slice the cake, top each slice with sliced strawberries, a scoop of strawberry ice cream, and sprinkle with toasted almond slivers.
