Cinnamon Roll Ingredients

Method

Cinnamon Roll Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a small bowl, warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C). Stir in the yeast and a teaspoon of sugar, letting it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Filling

In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

  4. 4

    Roll Out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread melted butter over the dough, then evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture and chopped pecans.

  5. 5

    Shape the Rolls

Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Bake the Rolls

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.

  7. 7

    Prepare the Cream Cheese Icing

In a bowl, beat together 4 oz of softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup of softened butter, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract until smooth.

  8. 8

    Serve

Drizzle the cream cheese icing over the warm cinnamon rolls and serve immediately.
