Salad Base

Method

Preparing the Salad

  1. 1

    Wash and Chop Romaine

Start by rinsing the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt. Shake off excess water and pat dry with paper towels. Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare Croutons

If using store-bought croutons, measure out 1 cup. If making homemade croutons, cut day-old bread into cubes, toss with olive oil, garlic powder, and seasonings, and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10-15 minutes until golden.

  3. 3

    Grate the Parmesan

Using a box grater or a food processor, grate the parmesan cheese until you have 1 cup. Set aside.

Making the Dressing

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and anchovy paste.

  2. 5

    Mix Dressing

Whisk the ingredients together until smooth and well combined. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 6

    Toss the Salad

In a large bowl, add the chopped romaine lettuce, croutons, and grated parmesan cheese. Pour the Caesar dressing over the top.

  2. 7

    Mix and Serve

Gently toss the salad until the ingredients are evenly coated with the dressing. Serve immediately, garnished with additional parmesan if desired.
